At first my skincare routine was as low-maintenance as it had ever been but later, I've found myself getting really into skincare and making a serious effort to implement a proper skincare routine and sticking to it. This is equitable to an article form Forbes said that time spent during the beauty routine, skill level and willingness to experiment with products is higher for millennials than any other generation. As a millennial, thanks to the internet, it was very easy for me to browse many source of information about skincare routine which accommodates my interest with skincare ever since I developed acne around age 17 (and later grew into severe acne on my 20s, sad).
After trying countless acne medications prescribed from one dermatologists to another, through the years and not getting satisfying result, I wanted to learn more about my skin and how I could care for mine in general. Now I cannot go to bed if I haven’t removed all of my makeup and cleaned my face.
To begin my hidden interest to beauty euphoria, I'm started with reviewing my current daily cleansing routine which, for me, is the most essentials compare to the rest of the regime. Even my dermatologist suggest that cleansing your face at night could be the single most important thing you do for your health and beauty.
Through my own experimentation with different products, personal experience with acne medications. The products are comes from many brands, which can be found easily in several Indonesia drug store and also online marketplace. I already use these product more than months (even years!) and most importantly, these products didn't break me out.
PRE-CLEANSER
Before using facial wash, I use micellar water to cleanse my make up. Rather than using cleansing oil, I prefer micellar water because it doesn't clog my skin. Though most of cleansing oil claims it will not clog your pores, but I kinda being skeptical, therefore micellar water is more comfortable for me. The science behind micellar water is really quite clever. It contains micelles which are soap molecules that act like magnets and help to lift and break up make-up on the skin. The micellar water I always find myself repurchasing is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water because it's pretty cheap and does the job compare to other drugstore's brand.

CLEANSER
Foam cleansers are one of the basic steps of the common Asian's skincare routine. For me, facial wash is the most satisfying step because your skin feels super clean after using it. My version of perfect facial cleanser is something that can cleanse my face thoroughly without any slippery or drying feeling. Shiseido Senka Perfect Whip Facial Wash is the perfect facial wash for my skin. I bought it in South Korea for only KRW 8000 (1+1 promo). So happy it was so cheap back then. But as I know you can bought it on Indonesia online marketplace such as Shopee, heaven-like marketplace for all Indonesia beauty enthusiast (lol)

Another option to cleanse my face when I need more moisturizer on my cleanser is St. Ives Oatmeal Scrub + Mask. This is multi function face cleanser which also can be used as facial mask if you put it on your face and leave it for about 10 - 15 minutes. The scrub is so smooth and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin so I think it's safe to used daily if you want.

To add my cleansing routine, I use this peeling gel, Tony Moly Floria Brightening Peeling Gel when I used a heavy make up all day long. The gel is so soft it can remove any excess make up which cannot be removed by micellar water. Before I use my facial wash, I put it on my skin, leave it for about 1 minute and after that I massage my face until the 'pulp' show off. You will see the gel become short of a 'pulp' that comes from accumulation of dirt, excess make up, and your dead skin. I always love the feeling after using this gel because I can ensure that there's no excess make up on my skin before I wash it with facial wash.

TONER
I recently use this brand named Jafra Advanced Dynamic Shooting Toner ever since my coworker introduce me to this brand, which is famous for their clay mask but sadly it irritates my sensitive skin. So when she asked me if I want to try another product, I choose this mild toner which is, as it's stated, formulated for sensitive skin. I am little cautious when it comes to face toners but still I have purchased lots of them that did not do well on my skin. But, this toner is so mild it doesn't have any fragrance. it feels light, doesn't have any tingling sensations since it doesn't contain alcohol, and provides sufficient amount of hydration to my oily skin.

FIRST ESSENCE
To complete my cleansing routine, I add essence before continuing to AM/PM routine. Why I add essence to as my cleansing routine? Cleansing your face and applying the right sort of products is the key to looking much younger and healthier for longer. Before than, I never though using essence would be so important that using only moisturizer in the form of cream is already enough. Thus I never get the maximum result from every cream I've been use ever since. Their main purpose is to moisturize the skin and make the most of the serums (or straightway to cream, if you are lazy) that follow. Think of your skin as a sponge: once it’s plumped up with water, everything else absorbs more easily. However, essence in Korea skincare regime is very important since their main purpose is to moisturize the skin and make the most of the serums that follow. As what Peach and Lily said to think of your skin as a sponge: once it’s plumped up with water, everything else absorbs more easily.
I use COSRX Galactomyces 95 Whitening Power Essence simply because it's cheap (lol). Some people raves that this is better than SK-II First Treatment Essence but I cannot say so because I only use the trial size once. Besides, I got everything it claimed. It brightens my skin, gives a clear glowing and hydrated skin effect, it improves my skin elasticity and helps fading my acne scars.

That’s the general bulk of my cleansing routine, before continuing to AM/PM skincare routine. I use other products sometimes, but this what I follow consistently. I will make separate post for the full how-to my AM/PM skincare routine :)
