My 5 Essentials Make-Up Brush

I'll start by saying that, at first, I thought my fingers are the best tools to apply my whole makeup. But as you may already know, I was wrong.

Starting from applying foundation, concealer, cream blush, cream contour, I only used my fingers differently - point finger and middle finger for foundation and blush, ring finger for sensitive area such us under eye, pinkie finger to pointed area, and so on.

Then my friend introduced me to cushion, a whole new different kind of base makeup, from liquid in a bottle to liquid inside... a sponge! It was totally became a trend amongst Korean make up and skincare enthusiast at that time (and still until today!)

Applying make-up using brush is a whole new experience for me. We all take such care in choosing the perfect formulas of eye shadow, foundation, blush-on, contour, etc, but I've noticed that some people overlook the tools themselves which you use every single day. Turns out the application with brush is much easier compare to using sponge, or even my own finger. Plus point is, it's more hygienic since you got to always cleanse your tools after applications.

I don’t have many makeup brush but I love all of the brushes in my make-up storage. This is probably because I did a ton of research as to which brushes are necessary before I purchased any of them, after realizing that beauty tools can be very personal to the user. The brushes below are ones that I think are must-haves.

1. Real Techniques Expert Brush

This brush is great for applying my base make up! It’s soft and the bristle are packed so well that the application is so smooth. It doesn’t leave brush strokes and glides very easy and evenly. Though it’s main function is for applying liquid foundation, I’m doubting how it would work with thicker foundation. Besides, this brush is multitasking that I found it’s also good for apply cream contour. Bought it at Sociolla.com for around $15. It's really a great brush, especially for the price.

2. Real Techniques Blush Brush

This is my first brush from Real Techniques. This brush is so soft. It picks up just right amount of your  favorite blush on powder and you can layer products. The tip of the brush is white so you can assure how much pigment you actually picked up. Also I like its pink color and its design that is so sleek and pretty. It is also perfect for applying bronzer and contour since it’s tapered but very soft.

3. Real techniques Sculpting Brush

While I use the expert brush to apply my contour cream, I use this brush to apply my contour powder or bronzer! It perfectly fit my cheek bone resulting a nice subtle color. The density of the brush and the softness of the bristles make it so easy to apply contours to my face. Some people say it can be used for liquid foundation because of its dense yet soft bristle.

4. Ecotools Eye Enhancing Duo Brush Set

Since I didn’t want to splurge on very expensive brushes, Ecotools is my first choice when I decided to try make-up brushes! For my eyeshadow needs, this has all of the bases covered. I've been using these brushes everyday for a year and haven't needed to buy any others. They're soft, they blend well, and they're really durable. I like that they're double ended which makes it travel-friendly. It’s also perfect for creating a simple and quick smokey-eye look Another good point is this brand against animal testing!

5. Real Techniques Setting Brush

I bought this brush because it looks like the smaller version of RT Blush Brush. The bristles are soft but not 100% smooth so they have texture to be able to grab and place a good amount of powder without wasting. I love this brush for highlighting tops of my cheekbones. It picks up just the right amount of product and applies it evenly. This brush also multi functional it works amazingly for blush-on powder and also to set my under eye.
